World Expo 2030 Riyadh is an International Registered Exhibition sanctioned by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). It will be held in the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing together nations, innovators, businesses and citizens to confront the world's most pressing challenges and co-create a better future.

Organised under the overarching theme "Foresight for Tomorrow", the Expo will showcase Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 transformation, demonstrating the Kingdom's emergence as a global economic and cultural hub. The site — located to the north of Riyadh near the upcoming King Salman International Airport — spans 6 square kilometres and is designed to be one of the most connected and sustainable expo sites ever constructed.

Construction is proceeding under the stewardship of the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), a state-owned entity responsible for planning, building and operating the expo. Key infrastructure packages worth hundreds of millions of dollars have already been tendered and awarded.

Role & Mandate

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) was established by the Paris Convention of 22 November 1928 to regulate and oversee World Expos. It coordinates between host countries and participating nations, ensuring that each event meets internationally recognised standards for organisation, theme relevance and visitor experience.

The BIE classifies World Expos into two categories: Registered Expos (the flagship events, held every five years) and Recognised Expos (smaller specialised events). Expo 2030 Riyadh is a Registered Expo, meaning it will be the largest and most prestigious category of world exposition.

The Expo 2030 Masterplan

A 6 km² landscape shaped by nature — five thematic districts radiating from a central plaza, designed to endure long after the last visitor leaves.

W A D I

Nature as Blueprint

Rather than imposing a grid, the masterplan traces the geometry of Wadi Al Sulai — a seasonal riverbed whose branching paths naturally channel water, wind and movement through the desert landscape. These reactivated wadis become pedestrian corridors, biodiversity spines and natural cooling systems all at once.

Five thematic districts radiate outward from a central gathering plaza like petals, each with its own architectural character yet united by the fractal language of nature. Shaded walkways, elevated paths and green corridors connect every corner of the 6 km² site without a single car crossing a pedestrian route.

" The site is designed not as a temporary event but as a permanent gift to Riyadh — a living district that grows more valuable with time. "
